RCAC Sarnia PD
The RCAC group met in Sarnia on May 26 to explore the world of Robotics for the classroom. Using Lego Dacta which includes standard lego along with super-charged electro-mechanical lego parts and a copy of Robolab software for 'programming' the robots.

Particpants were 'spoon-fed' the instructions for building a 'tank-bot', although the suggested classroom approach is allow the students to develop their own robots based on their own original designs. The most powerful aspect of learning through robotics is that students of all 'intelligences' have the opportunity to shine. Furthermore, teams of robot builders have the opportunity to compete with other schools in regional robotics events. Photos and a short movie clip of the PD event are hosted here.

Use of Probes to Enhance Junior Science

This fall, a pilot project investigates the use of Science Probes and Handheld Computers in the Junior (Grades 4-6) Science Classroom. In the Summer of 2003, interested teachers attended a full-day Professional Development Institute to learn all about this technology.
